Atwima Kwanwoma DCE Engages Italian Firms Over Potable Water Solutions
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has initiated discussions with Italian water technology companies to explore possible partnerships aimed at improving access to potable water in the district.
The engagement took place during the Italy-Ghana Water Technology Workshop held at the Accra Marriott Hotel, where key stakeholders in Ghana’s water sector and leading Italian firms gathered to discuss innovative solutions, technology transfer and investment opportunities.
The workshop was organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) in collaboration with BolognaFiere and Accadueo (H2O) to promote cooperation between Ghana and Italy in the areas of water treatment, wastewater management, filtration technologies and sustainable water infrastructure.
Addressing participants at the opening ceremony, the Director of the Italian Trade Agency, Mr. Luigi Puca, said the initiative was part of Italy’s commitment to sharing its expertise and technologies while building stronger economic partnerships with Ghana.
He noted that the workshop was designed to provide advanced engineering solutions, promote innovation in water management and gather inputs from Ghanaian institutions to guide future collaborations.
The Ambassador of Italy to Ghana, H.E. Laura Ranalli, reiterated Italy’s readiness to deepen bilateral relations with Ghana through sustainable investments and technological cooperation, particularly in the water sector.
The event also featured contributions from the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Frank Amoakohene; the Managing Director of Ghana Water Company Limited, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu; and the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Gilbert Ken Yentumi, who encouraged Italian companies to explore investment opportunities in their regions.
About nine Italian water technology companies participated in the workshop and engaged representatives from Ghanaian institutions on modern technologies and possible areas of partnership.
On the sidelines of the programme, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah held discussions with Ambassador Ranalli and representatives of some Italian firms to seek support for expanding potable water supply systems in the Atwima Kwanwoma District.
The DCE highlighted the increasing demand for safe and reliable drinking water due to the district’s growth and appealed for technical assistance and investment support to enhance water infrastructure.
She expressed optimism that the discussions would result in strategic partnerships that would provide sustainable water solutions for communities across the district and improve the living conditions of residents.
