Chairman Wontumi’s Aide Clinches NPP Vice Chair Post

An aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, Oheneba Nana Asiedu, has been elected the Second Vice Chairman of the party in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a journalist and host of “The Privilege Morning Show” on Wontumi Television, secured a convincing victory after polling 859 votes out of the 1,478 votes cast in the constituency’s internal elections.
His closest contender, Albert Appiah, garnered 382 votes, while Eric Boafo Appiah polled 235 votes. Two ballots were rejected.
The Electoral Commission’s Presiding Officer, Sampson Ofori, subsequently declared Oheneba Nana Asiedu the winner of the keenly contested election.
Addressing delegates and party supporters after his victory, Oheneba Nana Asiedu expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work diligently to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
He said his immediate priorities would include intensifying grassroots mobilisation, improving the welfare of party faithful to motivate them to work tirelessly for the NPP, and introducing mentorship programmes to nurture the next generation of party leaders.
The newly elected Second Vice Chairman also underscored the need for effective communication of the party’s policies and manifesto to ensure that every electorate is well informed about the NPP’s vision and programmes.
According to him, he would embark on regular engagements across all 64 communities in the constituency to deepen the party’s relationship with residents, address their concerns, and consolidate support for the NPP.
He appealed to all party members to remain united after the elections and work together towards rebuilding a formidable party capable of recapturing power in future elections.
