Ex-Convict Arrested Over Alleged Livestock Theft

A 30-year-old ex-convict, identified as Kofi Daniel, alias Okorley, has been apprehended by residents of Djomoa in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region for allegedly stealing livestock.

Sources close to the incident told SWIFTNEWS3 that the suspect was found in possession of three goats and a sheep, prompting residents to question him about the origin of the animals.

The suspect allegedly first told the residents that he was taking the animals to sell. However, he later changed his explanation, claiming that he was taking them to a man identified as Musa at Sawa, a nearby community.

His conflicting accounts reportedly heightened suspicion among the residents, who obtained Musa’s telephone number to verify the claim.

Sources said that during further questioning, Okorley eventually admitted that he had stolen the animals.

The residents subsequently handed him over to the Asesewa Police Command for further investigation.

The police are expected to establish the rightful owners of the animals and determine whether the suspect could be connected to other reported cases of livestock theft in the area.

The incident has also renewed calls for residents to remain vigilant, as livestock theft is reportedly becoming a concern in some communities within the area.

Police have commended the residents for their vigilance and swift action in apprehending the suspect.
