Obuasi Headmaster Rape Case Hits AG’s Office

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has forwarded the docket on an alleged rape case involving the headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School, Zakaria Abdulai, to the Attorney-General’s Office for study and advice.
The case involves a 20-year-old Form Two student who accused the headmaster of forcibly having sexual intercourse with her at his official bungalow on the school’s campus on July 25, 2026.
According to a police press release issued in Bekwai on October 16, 2026, the student, accompanied by her father, lodged a complaint with the Obuasi Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) on August 4, 2026.
The police said investigations had been completed, including medical examination, reconstruction of the scene, photographs and the taking of witness statements, before the docket was forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office.
The complainant alleged that she had gone to a spot near the headmaster’s official residence, where students dried their clothes, to remove her dresses when the suspect allegedly asked her to enter his residence to undertake an errand for him.
She further alleged that upon entering the residence, the headmaster began caressing and fondling her against her will while she was seated on a sofa.
According to the police statement, the suspect allegedly dragged her into his bedroom when she resisted his advances and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The statement added that the headmaster allegedly gave the student GH¢100 after the incident to keep her silent.
The police said the case had been referred to the Attorney-General’s Office for the necessary legal advice and further action.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command, however, assured the public that it remained committed to ensuring justice and maintaining peace and security within its jurisdiction.
The allegations have not been established in court.
