Thousands of members of the Kristo Asafo Mission from across the Ashanti Region have gathered at Esumegya to honour the memory and legacy of the late Apostle Dr. Engineer Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
The gathering, which brought together members from the church’s 33 branches in the region, formed part of activities to commemorate the birthday and celebrate the enduring legacy of the late founder.
The event was led by the current leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission and head of the Kantanka Empire, Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena.
As part of the commemoration, Nana Akofena donated more than 1,500 pieces of clothing to residents and various groups within Esumegya and surrounding communities.
The donation, according to Nana Akofena, was made to fulfil the legacy of his late father and to continue his tradition of touching lives and supporting communities.
Before the presentation of the items, Nana Akofena paid a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Esumegya Traditional Council, Nana Kusi Intraama.
The two held a warm and fruitful discussion on issues concerning the traditional area, the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka family.
Nana Akofena, who expressed happiness about meeting the Omanhene, said he was delighted to be in Esumegya and to participate in the activities in such a cheerful atmosphere.
He was accompanied by the Chairman of the Kristo Asafo Council of State, Lawyer Owusu Badu; General Secretary of the church, Dr. Oduro Addo; a member of the National Executive Council (NEC), Nana Amoako; and other members of the church’s procurement board.
