GACC Releases 2025 State of Corruption Report

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has released the 2025 State of Corruption Report, highlighting Ghana’s progress and persistent challenges in the fight against corruption.

The report, which is the third edition of the Coalition’s flagship publication, assesses developments in Ghana’s anti-corruption efforts between January and December 2025, with particular focus on transparency, accountability and good governance.

It draws on evidence from key sources, including the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), Afrobarometer Survey, Auditor-General’s Reports and the Ibrahim Index of African Governance, as well as other credible data.

The report examines Ghana’s performance on major corruption indicators and assesses the work of state accountability institutions, civil society organisations and the media in promoting accountability.

According to the report, accountability institutions continue to make progress through investigations, prosecutions, audits, public education and asset recovery.

However, it noted that challenges including weak enforcement, gaps in implementation, inadequate political will and unsustainable funding continue to undermine efforts to effectively tackle corruption.

The Coalition has therefore put forward practical recommendations aimed at strengthening accountability institutions, improving governance and restoring public confidence in the country’s anti-corruption systems.

The 2025 State of Corruption Report is expected to serve as a resource for policymakers, accountability institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, researchers, journalists and citizens working to promote transparency and accountability in Ghana.
