Police Officer Pushes Community Development

The Ashanti South Regional Police Staff Officer, DSP Bright Acheampong, has called on Ghanaians to embrace a culture of giving and actively support developmental projects in their communities.
He said national development should not be left entirely in the hands of the government, noting that individuals, corporate organisations, philanthropists and other stakeholders had an important role to play in addressing developmental challenges.
DSP Acheampong made the call when the SWIFTNEWS3 paid a courtesy call on him to acknowledge his contributions towards the development of infrastructure and welfare within the Ghana Police Service.
According to him, development was a shared responsibility, and citizens could make meaningful contributions by using their resources, skills, influence and platforms to support projects that benefited society.
He said even modest contributions, when combined and directed towards genuine needs, could produce significant and lasting results.
Contributions To Police Infrastructure
DSP Acheampong highlighted a number of infrastructure projects he had supported within the Ghana Police Service, particularly at the Patase Police Depot in Kumasi.
He mentioned the construction of a classroom block at the depot, which was named after former Inspector-General of Police, ACP Dr George Akuffo Dampare, as one of the projects.
He also cited the construction of the main entrance and exit gates and a Police Learning Centre as part of efforts to improve the facility.
According to him, he had also provided chairs and a poly tank for the Patase Police Depot to enhance the working environment and support the welfare of personnel.
DSP Acheampong further disclosed that, together with the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, he had initiated and facilitated the construction of a tailoring shop at the Amangoase Police Station.
The facility, he explained, was intended to provide tailoring services for police personnel from at least six district commands.
He also mentioned the construction of a conference room for the Ashanti South Regional Police Command, saying the project was aimed at improving the working environment and operational facilities of the Service.
Call For Support
DSP Acheampong urged Ghanaians to identify genuine developmental needs in their communities and contribute according to their capacity.
He encouraged corporate organisations, philanthropists, institutions and individuals to support initiatives in education, community development, public service and other areas that promoted the general wellbeing of society.
He said developing a culture of giving would help address some immediate challenges while creating a positive legacy for future generations.
The Police officer also urged the media to continue highlighting development-oriented initiatives and using their platforms to encourage citizens to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He said acts of generosity and service to humanity could transform communities and create opportunities for people to lead better and more productive lives.
