Access Bank Reaffirms Commitment To Ashanti Development

Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Pearl Nkrumah, has reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting development and strengthening partnerships in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking during her first official media engagement in Kumasi as Managing Director, Madam Nkrumah described the Ashanti Region as one of the country’s most vibrant economic centres, noting its strong entrepreneurial spirit and contribution to Ghana’s growth.

She explained that her decision to personally visit Kumasi instead of sending representatives from Accra was to engage directly with stakeholders and build stronger relationships within the region.

Madam Nkrumah commended the media in Kumasi for its important role in informing the public and connecting institutions to the people.

“At Access Bank, we believe in building transparent and respectful relationships with the media because they remain key partners in national development,” she stated.

According to her, Access Bank continues to contribute to Ghana’s economy by employing hundreds of Ghanaians and supporting thousands of small and medium-scale businesses in commercial areas such as Adum, Kejetia, and beyond.

She highlighted several corporate social responsibility projects undertaken by the bank in the Ashanti Region, particularly in education, healthcare, sustainability, and youth empowerment.

Madam Nkrumah disclosed that through the “A Sandal More for a Better Tomorrow” initiative, the bank has distributed sandals made from recycled tyres to schoolchildren while creating employment opportunities for over 500 shoemakers in the region.

She added that the “Upcycle 4 Impact” initiative has also supported schools with educational materials and school bags made from recycled products.

The Access Bank MD further mentioned the bank’s support for STEM education and girl-child empowerment programmes at the Bishop Speaks Child and Youth Development Centre in Kumasi, as well as the rehabilitation of the Community Health Post at the Amomorso CHPS Compound in the Bosome Freho District.

Touching on sports development, she reaffirmed the bank’s support for the Ashanti Kingdom through its contribution towards the acquisition of a new team bus for Asante Kotoko in partnership with SMT Volvo Ghana.

Madam Nkrumah also announced a donation of GH¢50,000 by Access Bank towards the completion of the Regional Press Centre project being undertaken by the media fraternity in the Ashanti Region.

She described the project as a worthy initiative and noted that the donation forms part of a growing partnership between the bank and the media.
