MPRC Urges Calm Over Wesley Girls’ Court Case

The Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee (MPRC), under the Office of the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Zakaria Al Shoukry has appealed to Muslims nationwide to remain calm following a court directive ordering Wesley Girls’ High School to officially respond to a lawsuit filed against the institution.
In a statement issued and signed by the Secretary of the Committee, Ustaz Burhanu Deen Babali, the MPRC noted that it has taken due notice of the court’s decision and is encouraging all Muslims and the general public to allow the legal process to proceed without tension.
The Committee reminded Muslims to continue respecting the rule of law and the authority of the courts, emphasizing that peaceful conduct is critical while the case unfolds.
The MPRC also advised Muslims to strictly adhere to the bylaws and regulations of schools and other institutions they engage with, saying such compliance fosters peace, harmony, and social cohesion.
According to the Committee, there is an urgent need for Islamic institutions across the country to strive for excellence and work towards meeting international standards. Doing so, it noted, will help build credible, well-structured institutions that reflect true Islamic values and ethics, while serving as symbols of progress in their communities.
The Committee further called on Muslims to remain committed to promoting peace, understanding and peaceful coexistence at all levels of society.
“Let us focus on building a brighter and more peaceful future for ourselves and the generations to come. May Allah guide us all onto the right path,” the statement added.
