Man Shot Dead in Asawase, Days After Kusasi Chief’s Assassination

Tension is mounting in Asawase, Asokore Mampong Municipality, following another shooting incident that left one man dead on Friday, July 25, 2025.
According to eyewitnesses, two unidentified gunmen on a motorbike attacked the victim, who is yet to be identified, shooting him twice at close range. He died instantly, sending shockwaves through the community.
This marks the second fatal shooting in the area within a week. On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, was assassinated in a similar manner. He was shot at his residence near the Asawase F-line Community Centre by gunmen on a motorbike, one reportedly armed with an AK-47 rifle. Azenbe was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The latest incident has deepened fears among residents, who are calling for increased security presence to prevent further violence.
Police have taken control of the crime scene and launched investigations. While authorities have not confirmed any connection between the two shootings, the close timing and location have raised serious concerns about safety in Asawase.
