KOYA Donates To Four Schools

The Deduako-Kodiekrom Youth Association (KOYA) in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region has donated educational materials to four basic schools to support teaching and learning as part of activities marking its fifth anniversary.
The donation, which included exercise books, pens, pencils and erasers, was intended to ease the burden on parents who struggle to provide their children with basic learning materials.
Mr. Gideon Kwarteng, Vice Chairman of KOYA, said the gesture was part of the association’s commitment to supporting underprivileged pupils and contributing to the development of a stronger society.
He noted that many pupils in the beneficiary schools came from poor backgrounds, with some parents unable to afford essential educational materials.
According to him, the association considered it necessary to intervene to motivate the pupils and help them concentrate on their studies.
Mr. Kwarteng appealed to residents of Deduako, Kodiekrom and neighbouring communities, including those living abroad, to support KOYA in its efforts to improve the welfare of residents and promote community development.
Security, Sanitation
Beyond education, the KOYA vice chairman called on the police to intensify security operations in the communities to clamp down on criminal activities and drug abuse among the youth.
He also expressed concern about the poor attitude of some residents towards communal labour, urging them to participate actively in communal cleaning exercises to improve sanitation and protect public health.
The beneficiary schools were Obeng Faith Experimental Junior High School, Deduako M/A Junior High School, Deduako M/A Primary School and Wilson Adventist Junior High School.
APPEAL TO ASSEMBLY
The headmistress of one of the beneficiary schools commended KOYA for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention to support pupils and improve educational outcomes.
She urged other Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and philanthropists to emulate the association’s example by investing in education and community development.
The headmistress further appealed to the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly to provide the schools with dustbins and a designated dumping site to help maintain a clean and healthy learning environment.
