YB Promises Grassroots Revival As He Eyes Ashanti NPP Youth Organiser Position

An aspiring Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Yiadom Boakye Emmanuel, popularly known as YB, has promised to rebuild the party’s youth wing through a strong grassroots mobilisation strategy if given the mandate.
YB, a former President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), said he would reintroduce the electoral area youth wing structure to make the party’s youth front more vibrant and effective.
Speaking on Owia TV in an interview hosted by Nana Yaw Boamah, popularly known as Libya Burger, the youth organiser hopeful stressed that a strong party structure must begin from the electoral area level.
According to him, the electoral area youth wing system, which was successfully implemented during the tenure of Justin Kodua Frimpong as Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser, contributed greatly to grassroots mobilisation and must be brought back.
“For a vibrant and effective youth wing, our organisation must start from the electoral areas. I shall reintroduce the electoral area youth wings,” YB stated.
He added that his vision is to restore the period when party leaders were actively engaged with members across the region, particularly during weekends.
“We shall return to the period where every weekend was busy for the leaders in the region,” he said.
YB further pledged to unite the youth of the party and restore their commitment and love for the NPP.
“I will ensure that I bring everyone, especially the youth, together within my capacity and convince them to love the party again,” he said.
The former NUGS President said his agenda is to strengthen the party’s organisational base and mobilise effectively towards victory when elected as the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser.
Touching on the NPP’s preparations towards the 2016 general elections, YB noted that the party adopted strategies that significantly contributed to its victory.
He, however, expressed concern that subsequent leadership had failed to replicate those strategies, which he believes has negatively affected the party’s performance in the Ashanti Region.
“Sadly, subsequent leadership has failed to replicate the same process, which has negatively affected the fortunes of the party in the region,” he stated.
YB said he could not determine whether the situation was due to forgetfulness or a deliberate decision to discontinue the strategy.
He recalled that although he was a student at the time, he followed the footsteps of the party’s leaders and gained valuable experience from their organisational approach.
