Fire Tragedy: 13-Year-Old Perishes In Suame Inferno

A 13-year-old boy, identified as Hassan, has died in a devastating fire that gutted a nine-bedroom house at Tarkwa-Makro in the Suame Constituency of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026, destroying the house and all the occupants’ belongings.
Residents who witnessed the incident told SWIFTNEWS3 that they made frantic efforts to rescue the teenager after the fire broke out, but were unable to reach him. When the blaze was eventually brought under control, Hassan was found burnt to death inside one of the rooms.
According to the residents, repeated attempts were made to contact the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), but firefighters arrived after the fire had already caused extensive damage.
One of the occupants, Prince, who also lost all his belongings in the inferno, emotionally recounted the final moments of the deceased.
“I am sick; look at my leg. When the fire started, Hassan kept calling, ‘Bra Prince, I’m burning! Help me!’ I asked him to open the door, but he said it was locked and he couldn’t. I did everything I could, but there was nothing I could do except watch him burn,” he said amid tears.
Prince disclosed that only four people were in the house when the fire broke out, adding that Hassan was the only casualty.
Some residents suspect that a Chinese security door may have trapped the boy inside the room, making it impossible for him to escape the raging flames. However, this has not been officially confirmed.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service later extinguished the fire and have launched investigations to establish the cause of the blaze and the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death.
