Two Arrested Over Murder and Robbery of 20-Year-Old Motor Rider

Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested two young men in connection with the gruesome murder and robbery of a 20-year-old man, Kofi Mensah, at Tweapease-Aboo in the Amansie South District.

The suspects, Solomon Opoku, 24, and Collins Aboagye, 27, were nabbed through intelligence-led operations by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command after several days of meticulous investigation.

According to police reports, the duo attacked and killed the victim on October 6, 2025, and fled with his Haojin motorbike. Their arrest followed a breakthrough in the case when Solomon Opoku attempted to sell the stolen motorbike at Council Quarters, Obuasi, where he was apprehended.

Further police investigations led to the arrest of Collins Aboagye at Kokotesua, another suburb of Obuasi. Both suspects have since confessed to committing the crime, and the stolen motorbike has been retrieved.

Police confirmed that the suspects are currently in custody and were arraigned before court on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Addressing the media on behalf of the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, the Regional 2i/C, ACP Cephus Arthur, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring public safety and upholding the rule of law.

“We will not rest until every community in the region is safe,” he assured.

ACP Arthur also cautioned residents against instant justice, urging the public to allow the legal process to take its course to ensure fairness and stability.

“Let’s trust the system and give the law space to operate effectively,” he added.

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command emphasized its determination to continue proactive operations to dismantle criminal networks and bring perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.
