LPG Pays Tribute to Fallen Ministers in Helicopter Crash

The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and seven others who perished in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6.

In a press statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Jerry Owusu, the LPG extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, colleagues, and the entire nation, describing the incident as “a national loss beyond measure.”

“This devastating incident has cast a dark cloud over our nation,” the statement read. “The loss of such dedicated patriots — men who served with distinction and unwavering commitment to the peace, stability, and progress of Ghana — is a wound that cuts deep into the heart of our Republic.”

The party paid glowing tribute to the late Minister for Defence, hailing him as a symbol of courage, integrity, and tireless public service. It noted that his legacy, along with those of the others who died in the crash, would forever be remembered in Ghana’s history.

“In this moment of sorrow, we call on all Ghanaians to unite in mourning and in prayer. Let us honour their memories not just with words, but with a renewed commitment to the values of duty, sacrifice, and patriotism for which they stood,” the LPG urged.

The party concluded its statement with a prayer for the souls of the departed and strength for their grieving families and the nation at large.

The helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of several high-profile individuals, including the Minister for Environment and other government and military officials. An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
