Akrofuom MP Invests GH¢200,000 In Healthcare, Donates Medical Equipment To District Health Directorate

The Member of Parliament for Akrofuom Constituency, Hon. Joseph Azumah, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the constituency with the donation of medical equipment and office supplies worth GH¢200,000 to the Akrofuom District Health Directorate.
The donation, which was made through the MP’s Health Fund, is expected to strengthen healthcare services, improve diagnostic capacity and support healthcare workers in delivering quality medical care to residents across the district.
The items presented included an ultrasound scan machine (DP2), 11 digital blood pressure monitors, 11 glucometers, scan gel, test strips, lancets, four laptops, a swivel chair, two office chairs, three tables, two sets of three-in-one chairs and two Apsonic Jungle motorbikes.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at Akrofuom on Friday, May 29, 2026, Hon. Joseph Azumah said access to quality healthcare remains one of his key priorities as Member of Parliament and that the donation forms part of efforts to address challenges confronting health facilities in the constituency.
According to him, the equipment will help improve disease diagnosis, patient monitoring and healthcare outreach services, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
He urged health officials and workers to ensure the items are properly maintained and used for their intended purpose to maximize their benefits to the people.
“The health of our people remains a top priority. This intervention is aimed at supporting our healthcare facilities with the needed tools to provide efficient and quality healthcare services. We will continue to invest in the health sector to improve the well-being of our constituents,” he stated.
Hon. Azumah explained that the donation was funded through his personal Health Fund as part of his commitment to complement government efforts in strengthening the healthcare system.
He further pledged to continue mobilising resources to support the health needs of residents and ensure that people in the constituency fully benefit from President John Mahama’s Free Primary Healthcare policy.
The MP noted that removing financial and logistical barriers to healthcare is essential to improving the quality of life of residents and promoting healthy communities.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Akrofuom District Health Directorate, the Acting District Director of Health Services, Joseph Kofi Annor, expressed appreciation to the MP for the timely intervention.
He described the donation as a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the district, indicating that the equipment would help improve the efficiency of healthcare professionals and enhance service delivery.
Mr. Annor assured the MP and residents that the items would be properly maintained and utilised for the benefit of the people.
“On behalf of the District Health Directorate, we are deeply grateful to Hon. Joseph Azumah for this generous support. The equipment has come at a crucial time and will greatly enhance healthcare delivery in our district. We assure him that the items will be used for the purpose for which they were provided,” he said.
The donation adds to a series of interventions undertaken by the MP to improve social services and promote development within the Akrofuom Constituency.
