81-Year-Old Woman Dies After Bee Attack at Achiase
An 81-year-old woman has reportedly died after being attacked by a swarm of bees at Achiase, near Asuofua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, identified as Nana Afia Achiaa, was attacked on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
A resident, who spoke to Swiftnews3 editor, David Afum, said the incident occurred when the elderly woman stepped outside the Achiase Palace, where she had been staying, to engage in conversations with other residents.
According to the source, the woman encountered the swarm of bees while outside the palace, but residents could not immediately come to her rescue because of the intensity of the attack.
The resident disclosed that the bees had been in the community for about a year and had been disturbing residents, raising concerns about the threat they posed to human life.
The situation reportedly left residents helpless for some time, as they struggled to find a way to rescue the victim from the swarm.
The residents later managed to repel the bees using insecticide sprays before rushing Nana Afia Achiaa to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
However, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The incident has heightened concerns among residents over the continued presence of the bees in the community, with calls expected for appropriate measures to address the situation and prevent further attacks.
