CSU Cuts Sod for Hostel Project at Sabin Akrofrom

Christian Service University (CSU) has cut the sod for the construction of a modern hostel facility at Sabin Akrofrom in the Ashanti Region to address the accommodation needs of students.

The ceremony, led by the Chancellor of the university, Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante, brought together traditional authorities, clergy, management, staff and other stakeholders.

Prof. Asante, in his address, expressed gratitude to God and paid tribute to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Nana Kwaku Duah, a former Chief of Sabin Akrofrom, and the current Sabin Akrofromhene, Nana Osei Kofi, for their immense support in securing the land for the university’s expansion.

He noted that the sod-cutting ceremony coincides with 15 years since the land was officially leased to the university for its development.

The Chancellor commended the Governing Council and management of the university for their foresight and prudent leadership, which he said have made it possible to embark on the project within a short period after attaining full university status.

Delivering his welcome address, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Stephen Banahene, described the hostel project as a major milestone in the university’s quest to enhance student welfare and promote holistic education.

According to him, the project goes beyond providing accommodation, stressing that it represents a strategic investment in creating a conducive environment that supports learning, character formation and academic excellence.

He noted that the facility would help bridge the accommodation gap, reduce commuting risks and offer students a safe, comfortable and disciplined living environment that fosters effective learning.

Dr. Banahene further highlighted the university’s commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen, adding that the project would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of Sabin Akrofrom and surrounding communities.

He explained that the construction phase would generate employment opportunities for local artisans, suppliers and service providers, while the completed facility would stimulate business growth and enhance economic activities in the area.
