89-Year-Old Man Burnt To Death In Aputuogya House Fire

An 89-year-old man, identified as Kwaku Opoku, has died after being trapped and burnt in a fire that gutted a five-bedroom house at Aputuogya in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred at a house with digital address AT-1140-4270, near God’s Way Maternity Clinic.
A report by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said the fire affected two of the four self-contained bedrooms in the building.
A combined team from the Regional Sub-Station and the KNUST Fire Station responded to the distress call and managed to bring the fire under control using water.
During the firefighting operation, personnel discovered and retrieved the body of Mr. Opoku, 89, from one of the affected rooms.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, as fire personnel have commenced investigations to establish what triggered the incident.
The fire has also left other occupants of the house displaced, with the extent of the damage being assessed.
