Record Police Misconduct – MTTD Commander
The Ashanti Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) Commander, Superintendent Evans Kwame Boadi, has urged members of the public to record and report police officers who engage in misconduct while performing their official duties.
He clarified that civilians do not require permission from police officers to record them, provided the officers are acting lawfully.
Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, Superintendent Boadi specifically encouraged motorists to document cases involving alleged extortion and other forms of misconduct by MTTD officers.
He said members of the public could submit credible video recordings or other evidence of such conduct to the police for investigation and appropriate action.
According to him, evidence from civilians could assist the police in identifying officers who breach professional standards and dealing with them accordingly.
The MTTD commander stressed that officers who conduct themselves properly should have no reason to be afraid of being recorded while carrying out their lawful duties.
He, therefore, urged the public to cooperate with the police and ensure that allegations of misconduct were supported by credible evidence to facilitate proper investigations.
He said public participation in exposing wrongdoing would help promote accountability and professionalism within the MTTD and the Ghana Police Service.
