Obuasi SHTS Headmaster Faces Fresh Sexual Assault, Harassment Allegations

The Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Ashanti Region, Abdulai Zakaria, is facing fresh allegations of sexual assault and harassment involving some female students.
The allegations have emerged amid recent unrest at the school, where students reportedly attacked the headmaster over separate accusations.
One of the alleged victims’ fathers, Mr. Kwabena Egyir, told journalists that he reported the matter to the Obuasi Township Police four days ago after his 20-year-old daughter allegedly told him she had been sexually assaulted by the headmaster.
Mr. Egyir said his daughter was subsequently taken to the Obuasi Government Hospital for medical examination, following which a medical report was issued.
He said the family is awaiting the outcome of the police investigations and is seeking justice for his daughter.
In another allegation, a female student claimed that Mr. Zakaria invited her to his room and allegedly asked her to massage him with oil.
She further alleged that the headmaster subsequently instructed her to touch his private parts.
A third student has also accused the headmaster of sexual assault, alleging that he touched her breasts and sexually assaulted her.
She further claimed that the headmaster warned her against disclosing the alleged incident to anyone.
The allegations are now expected to form part of investigations into the circumstances surrounding the recent disturbances at the school.
The police are investigating the allegations, while the headmaster has not publicly responded to the latest claims.
The allegations remain unproven, and Mr. Zakaria is presumed innocent unless proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
