WASSCE Candidate Hospitalised After Brutal Attack at Nkawie SHTS

A final-year student of Nkawie Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Ashanti Region is battling for recovery after he was allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants shortly after writing his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) English Language paper.

The victim, a Visual Arts student whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was reportedly stabbed in the head with a pair of scissors on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, around 1:00 p.m.

According to information gathered by Swiftnews3, the attack occurred on the school campus just minutes after the examination had ended.

Sources revealed that the attackers arrived on a motorbike, carried out the assault, and quickly fled the scene before they could be apprehended.

The injured student was immediately rushed to the Nkawie Government Hospital by fellow students after blood was seen flowing from the wound on his head.

“He was bleeding profusely, so students quickly organised transport and sent him to the hospital,” a source told Swiftnews3.

The victim is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding positively.

The motive behind the shocking attack remains unknown. Meanwhile, security agencies are expected to launch investigations to identify and arrest the perpetrators.

The incident has left students and residents of Nkawie in a state of shock, especially as it occurred during the ongoing WASSCE examinations.
