Fatal Shooting Rocks Nyalewa Community, Two Others Critically Injured

A shooting incident at Nyalewa in the Asawase Constituency has left one person dead and two others in critical condition, following what is suspected to be a dispute over land.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, 2026, around 6:00 a.m., causing fear and tension among residents in the area.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the incident began as a disagreement between two unidentified individuals over ownership of a piece of land. One of the individuals, believed to have acquired the land, was reportedly confronted by another person who also claimed rights to the same property.

The situation reportedly escalated, leading to gunfire which resulted in one fatality and left two others seriously injured.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service quickly moved to the scene to restore calm. The injured victims were conveyed to the Manhyia Government Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The suspect has since been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations.

Authorities say efforts are underway to ascertain the full details surrounding the incident.
