Upcoming Musician Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Bartender At Mpatuam

An upcoming musician known in Manso and its surrounding communities as Akwasi Gyamfi, popularly called Sly Doe, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 30-year-old bartender at Mpatuam in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, identified as Nana Yaw, was reportedly attacked on February 27, 2026, following a dispute over a rented space being used for a drinking bar business.
According to information available to Swiftnews3, the victim and his girlfriend, Ama Kraa, had rented part of a house belonging to the suspect’s family. However, misunderstandings are said to have existed between them and the suspect for some time.
Ama Kraa, speaking to OTEC News, alleged that the suspect frequently interfered with their electricity meter, resulting in repeated disagreements.
She claimed that on the day of the incident, the suspect allegedly switched off the meter again. When the deceased confronted him, he reportedly went into his room, returned with a small axe and attacked Nana Yaw.
The victim was said to have sustained serious injuries and was later pronounced dead.
Police at Nkawie have since arrested the suspect, who is currently assisting with investigations.
The incident has left residents of Mpatuam in shock, with many calling for justice as police continue their investigations into the matter.
