Stabbing Incident Rocks Mpasatia Community
A 42-year-old man, Kwame Amo, a native of Mpasatia in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, is fighting for his life after being stabbed in the rib during a violent confrontation in the community.
The incident occurred on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m., following what residents describe as a long-standing dispute between the victim and the suspect. The suspect, whose identity is yet to be officially confirmed, is believed to be a galamsey operator who hails from the Volta Region.
According to Nana Nkansah, a local reporter with Kumasi-based Angel 96.1 FM, the confrontation escalated into a heated altercation at Mpasatia, during which the suspect allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Kwame Amo in the rib. The victim reportedly bled profusely, with blood soaking the shirt he was wearing.
Kwame Amo was initially rushed to the Frimpong Boateng Medical Centre at Toase for emergency treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was later referred and transferred to the Emergency Ward of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for specialized care.
The suspect attempted to flee the scene but was quickly apprehended by residents. The timely intervention of police personnel from the Nkawie Divisional Command prevented an angry mob from lynching the suspect. He was subsequently whisked away in a police vehicle to the station for his safety.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be processed for court.
Police have launched a full investigation into the incident.
