Kotoko and Hearts Set for Super Clash Showdown on Match Day 5

Football fans across the country have every reason to gear up for an exhilarating season as the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially released the full fixture list for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season. The new campaign is scheduled to kick off over the weekend of Friday, September 12, 2025, and promises a compelling lineup of matches, mouthwatering derbies, and fierce rivalries from start to finish.

All Eyes on the Super Clash – Match Day 5

One of the biggest highlights of the fixture release is the scheduling of the first Super Clash of the season between arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko SC on Match Day 5. The encounter will be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium, and is expected to once again be one of the most anticipated events on the Ghanaian football calendar.

The return leg will take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Match Day 22, setting the stage for what could be a season-defining showdown between the two most decorated and widely supported clubs in Ghanaian football history.

Recent Dominance: Kotoko in the Driver’s Seat

While the Super Clash is traditionally a tightly contested affair, recent meetings have seen Asante Kotoko SC assert dominance over their arch-rivals. The Porcupine Warriors have won five of their last six matches against Hearts of Oak, with the Phobians managing only a single win in that span.

This recent form adds an extra layer of pressure on Hearts of Oak, who will be desperate to turn the tide in front of their home fans and make a strong statement early in the season.

Defending Champions Begin Title Defense at Home

Bibiani Gold Stars, who shocked many to clinch the 2024/25 Premier League title, will open their campaign at home against Bechem United at the Duns Park. The champions will be eager to prove their success was no fluke as they aim to mount a strong title defense.

The league will run through several high-stakes weekends, with the final round of matches scheduled for May 2026, when the title race and relegation battles are expected to go down to the wire.

GFA President Kurt Okraku expressed optimism ahead of the season, stating, “The 2025/26 season promises to be one of the most competitive yet. We have worked hard to ensure the integrity of the competition and are counting on clubs and fans to play their part.”

With fresh rivalries, returning legends, and renewed ambition from clubs across the country, the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season is shaping up to be one for the history books.
