Teacher In Trouble Over Student Assault
A teacher at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School in the Ashanti Region has landed in trouble after a viral video allegedly showed him physically assaulting a female student on campus.
The teacher has since been arrested, while the Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched investigations into the incident.
The Public Relations Officer of GES, Daniel Fenyi, confirmed the arrest in a Facebook post on Tuesday, June 9, 2026.
“The Nyinahin Catholic SHS teacher seen in the viral video fighting a female student has been arrested. The Regional Education Directorate is investigating the matter. A full report will be submitted to headquarters,” he stated.
The video, which has sparked widespread public outrage, appears to show the teacher confronting the female student as several onlookers pleaded with him to stop.
In the footage, the teacher is alleged to have repeatedly struck the student before lifting and throwing her to the ground.
Witnesses are heard urging him to exercise restraint and reminding him that the victim was a girl.
However, the visibly angry teacher reportedly responded, “Is she aware that she is a lady?”
The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, as neither school authorities nor GES have disclosed what led to the incident.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate has commenced investigations and is expected to submit a detailed report to the GES headquarters.
The incident has triggered public condemnation, with many calling for accountability and stronger measures to ensure the safety of students in schools.
The outcome of the investigations is expected to determine any disciplinary sanctions or legal action that may be taken against the teacher.
