GFA Names Final 26-Man World Cup Squad

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the final 26-man Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be staged in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Captain Jordan Ayew leads the squad, which also includes Thomas Partey, Inaki Williams, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Antoine Semenyo.

The team comprises three goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders and eight forwards as Ghana prepares for the global football showpiece.

Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare earned a place in the squad following his impressive performances in the Ghana Premier League. He joins Lawrence Ati-Zigi of Swiss side St. Gallen and Joseph Anang of St. Patrick’s Athletic as the goalkeepers selected for the tournament.

Benjamin Asare’s inclusion has been welcomed by local football enthusiasts, as he is among the few home-based players to make the final squad.

In defence, Coach Otto Addo has relied on a blend of experience and youth, naming Baba Rahman, Gideon Mensah and Alidu Seidu among the defenders.

Also making the cut are Marvin Senaya, Abdul Mumin, Jerome Opoku, Jonas Adjetey, Kojo Oppong Peprah and Derrick Luckassen.

The midfield department will be anchored by Thomas Partey, who is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars. He will be supported by Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Augustine Boakye, Caleb Yirenkyi and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Upfront, Ghana will look to Jordan Ayew, Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo and Kamaldeen Sulemana for goals, while Christopher Bonsu Baah, Ernest Nuamah, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Prince Kwabena Adu provide additional attacking options.

The squad reflects a blend of experienced internationals and emerging talents as Ghana aims to make a strong impression at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
