President John Dramani Mahama has undertaken a ministerial reshuffle, nominating two Members of Parliament for ministerial appointments while reassigning two serving ministers to new portfolios.

The nominations, announced in a statement issued by the Presidency Communications Office on Friday, August 7, 2026, have been forwarded to Parliament through the Speaker for prior approval in accordance with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

Under the changes, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament, has been nominated as Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, while Mahama Ayariga, MP, has been nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The President has also reassigned Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei to the Ministry of Defence, replacing his previous portfolio, while Ahmed Ibrahim, MP, has been moved to head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.

The Presidency said the appointments form part of efforts to strengthen the administration and improve the delivery of government’s policies and programmes.

The two nominees will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting before the House considers their approval.

The statement was signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP.
