Police Inspector Remanded Over MoMo Robbery

A Police Inspector stationed at the Asuoyeboa Police Station in Kumasi has been interdicted and remanded into custody over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on a mobile money vendor.

The suspect, identified as Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah, was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Anti-Robbery Unit through an intelligence-led operation, according to a statement issued by the Ashanti Regional Police Command on May 11, 2026.

Police disclosed that a search conducted at the suspect’s residences led to the retrieval of a Bruni Mod. 92 gas pistol, ammunition, and an amount of GH¢9,835.00 believed to be linked to the robbery incident under investigation.

Inspector Dankwah was subsequently arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court on May 11, 2026, where he was remanded into police custody.

He is expected to reappear before the court on May 29, 2026.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command noted that investigations are ongoing.
