Pastor, Two Others Remanded Over Alleged Attempt to Bury Baby Alive

Three persons, including a pastor, have been remanded into police custody by the Bibiani Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Frank Asiedu Nimako, for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The accused are Apostle Doctor Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, 36, head pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, Beatrice Agyapomaa, 23, and Emmanuel Appiah, 53. A fourth suspect, Emmanuel Donkor, is currently on the run.

They have been remanded for two weeks to assist in investigations and are expected to reappear before the court thereafter.

According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on April 9, 2026, at about 10:00 p.m., when Frimpong allegedly attempted to kill the infant, identified as Anaya Achiaa, aged five months and two weeks.

Frimpong has been charged with attempted murder, while he and Agyapomaa face an additional charge of conspiracy to commit a crime. Appiah is also facing a charge of abetment of crime for his alleged role in the incident.

The case came to light after an eyewitness reportedly spotted the suspects at a refuse dump in Abofrem late at night with the baby under suspicious circumstances.

The witness intervened and discovered that the infant was still alive, leading to the rescue of the child.

Further information indicates that the Chief Linguist of Abofrem had earlier been informed by the pastor that the baby had died and subsequently directed them to a burial site, not knowing the child was alive.

The baby was later rushed to the Abofrem Clinic, where the infant is currently receiving medical attention.

Police say investigations are ongoing, while efforts are underway to arrest the fourth suspect.

The incident has triggered outrage among residents, with many calling for justice as authorities work to unravel the motive behind the alleged act.
