NDC Album Row: Ram Sacrificed at Twedie
Tension surrounding the ongoing National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency elections at Atwima Kwanwoma in the Ashanti Region took a dramatic turn on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when three party members allegedly slaughtered a live ram at the voting centre to invoke curses on persons suspected of manipulating the delegates’ album.
The trio reportedly stormed the voting centre at the Twedie Technical Institute with the animal and slaughtered it in the full glare of party members and security personnel, invoking deities to punish anyone found to have played a role in the alleged removal of 700 delegates from the constituency’s electoral album.
The group also invoked curses on individuals from outside the constituency who had allegedly been added to the album to participate in the elections.
Sources alleged that the three were acting on behalf of one of the factions in the constituency, although the identity of the group they were purportedly representing remained undisclosed.
After slaughtering the ram, the leader of the group reportedly opened a bottle of schnapps and poured its contents on the ground while invoking curses against those allegedly responsible for the controversy over the delegates’ album.
The leader subsequently took some eggs and invoked further curses before the group reportedly fled the scene in a waiting taxi, taking the ram along.
The dramatic incident has added a new dimension to the tensions surrounding the constituency elections, with the alleged removal of 700 delegates emerging as a major source of concern among some party members.
Atwima Kwanwoma has a total of 2,160 delegates expected to vote in the elections, with 63 aspirants contesting 29 executive positions.
The controversy over the delegates’ album has raised questions among party members about the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.
The identities of the three individuals, the faction they allegedly represent and the circumstances surrounding the reported removal of the delegates were not immediately established.
