Chief Dies After Brutal Machete Attack
The Chief of Aburokyire, a farming community in the Offinso area of the Ashanti Region, Nana Osei Bonsu, has died after sustaining severe machete wounds during an attack linked to the murder of his caretaker farmer.
Nana Osei Bonsu reportedly died at St. Patrick Hospital in Offinso, where he had been receiving treatment for the injuries sustained in the attack.
The latest development comes after Swiftnews3 and other media outlets reported the killing of Osei Kwabena, the chief’s caretaker farmer, and the subsequent death of a 22-year-old man identified only as Awineme, who was allegedly responsible for the attack.
According to information gathered by Swiftnews3, Nana Osei Bonsu was attacked when he attempted to find out what had happened after Awineme allegedly returned home covered in blood.
The suspect reportedly attacked the chief with a machete, leaving him with severe injuries.
Nana Osei Bonsu was subsequently rushed to St. Patrick Hospital for emergency treatment.
Sources said the chief’s injuries were so serious that doctors were reportedly considering the amputation of one of his hands.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, the chief reportedly succumbed to his injuries.
His remains have since been deposited at the morgue of the St. Patrick Hospital in Offinso.

The death of Nana Osei Bonsu has plunged residents of Aburokyire into mourning, with the incident now resulting in three deaths.
The chief’s death follows the murder of his caretaker farmer and the subsequent mob attack that claimed the life of Awineme.
A resident who spoke to SWIFTNEWS3 said the community was shocked by the chief’s death, particularly because he had reportedly been receiving treatment after surviving the initial attack.
The resident said the chief had attempted to understand the circumstances surrounding the farmer’s death when he was allegedly attacked by Awineme.
The suspect was later confronted by some youth after reportedly attempting to attack another person. Efforts to restrain him allegedly failed, leading to the mob attack in which he sustained fatal injuries.
The bodies of Nana Osei Bonsu, Osei Kwabena and Awineme have reportedly been deposited at a morgue.
Police investigations are expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, including the attack on the chief and the subsequent death of the suspect.
The development has left the people of Aburokyire mourning the loss of their chief amid calls for calm as the police continue their investigations.
