NDC Mourns Ahafo Ano South DCE

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency of the Ashanti Region has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abubakar Sedik.

Mr Sedik reportedly died on Sunday, September 20, after a short illness.

According to reports, the DCE had attended a stakeholder engagement meeting in Kumasi involving leaders of trader groups and the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, over the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two project.

Sources said Mr Sedik complained of body pains after returning from the meeting and was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where he died.

His death has shocked residents and NDC supporters in the constituency, with mourners gathering at the party office at Mankranso following news of his passing.

Before his appointment as DCE, Mr Sedik served as the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ahafo Ano South West in the 2024 general elections.

He was among those who challenged the parliamentary election results in court after the NDC maintained that it had won the election, although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, was declared the winner.

MANKRANSO MARKET CONTROVERSY

Mr Sedik was recently at the centre of controversy over plans to construct a 24-hour economy market at Mankranso.

Some residents accused him of spearheading an attempt to demolish a school facility to make way for the market project.

The late DCE denied the allegations, insisting that there were no plans to demolish the school facility.

A visit by SWIFTNEWS3 to the NDC party office at Mankranso found grieving residents and party supporters gathered to mourn the late DCE.

His sudden death has left the people of Ahafo Ano South West and NDC supporters in the constituency mourning.
