Sparks Foundation Donates Educational Materials to Four Ashanti Schools

The Sparks Foundation has donated 2,000 exercise books and 1,000 pens to four basic schools in the Ashanti Region to support teaching and learning and ease the burden on parents and guardians.

The beneficiary schools are Asibey Nkwanta D/A Primary and JHS in the Ahafo Ano South West District and Wansanbire D/A Primary and JHS in the Atwima Mponua District.

Each of the four schools received 500 exercise books and 250 pens.

The foundation said the initiative was aimed at supporting needy pupils who might otherwise struggle to obtain essential educational materials.

Speaking during the presentation, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Sparks Foundation, Jeslord Fofie Samuel, said the donation formed part of the foundation’s broader commitment to supporting institutions and individuals in need.

He said the foundation was established to provide charitable assistance to needy individuals and institutions while contributing to the welfare and development of communities.

Quoting Proverbs 19:17, Mr Fofie Samuel, who is also a journalist with Amansie FM at Asante Bekwai, said helping people in need was an act of service to God and that generosity would ultimately attract divine blessings.

He explained that the foundation’s interventions were not limited to education, but also included donations to orphanages, support for needy individuals and assistance towards the payment of medical bills.

According to him, needy students under the foundation’s support programmes also receive school bags, exercise books, textbooks, mathematical instruments, pencils, pens, sanitary pads and other educational materials.

Mr Fofie Samuel, popularly known in media circles as D-Jay Tugar, commended the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Sparks Foundation, Chief Inspector Isaac Dwumfour, alias Chancellor, of the Ashanti South Police Command, for his continued generosity.

He said the CEO’s commitment to philanthropy had helped the foundation reach several vulnerable individuals and communities.

Appeal

Receiving the items on behalf of Asibey Nkwanta D/A Primary School, a Class Six teacher, Felix Appiah Sarpong, expressed appreciation to the foundation for the timely intervention.

He said the donation would encourage the pupils to take their studies seriously and develop greater interest in education.

Mr Appiah Sarpong appealed to old students of the school, community members, philanthropists and other well-meaning individuals in Ghana and abroad to support the school.

He particularly called for the provision of computers and other teaching and learning materials to enhance the quality of education.

A Class Six pupil, Yakubu Abena Vida, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiary students, thanked the Sparks Foundation for the donation and prayed for God’s blessings upon the donors.

She also appealed to individuals and other stakeholders to assist the schools with classroom infrastructure and other essential facilities to create a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

The Headmaster of Wansanbire D/A Primary and JHS, David Tawiah, together with the Assembly Member, Joseph Amankwah, also commended the foundation for the gesture.

They called on other organisations, philanthropists and individuals to emulate the Sparks Foundation and support schools in deprived communities.
