19-Year-Old SHS Graduate Allegedly Dies By Suicide At Abesim

Residents of Abesim, a suburb of Juaben in the Ashanti Region, have been thrown into a state of shock and mourning following the sudden death of a 19-year-old Senior High School (SHS) graduate, who allegedly died by suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Kofi Nkansah, a recent SHS graduate who was described by family members and residents as calm, respectful and exceptionally decent.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred on Monday , September 14 at about 8:30 p.m., after Kofi had returned to his room to sleep.

Family members later discovered him in a lifeless state, leaving the household devastated and plunging relatives into uncontrollable grief.

A relative, speaking to newsmen amid tears, said the deceased was a quiet and well-behaved young man who had no known disputes with anyone in the community.

“Kofi was a very good boy, very decent. He had no friends who were troublesome in this area. We are still in shock because we never expected this. We are mourning our beloved son,” the relative said.

News of the tragedy quickly spread across Abesim, attracting sympathisers to the family house to mourn with the bereaved family.

Residents described Kofi as a promising young man with a bright future, expressing disbelief over his sudden death.

The Assembly Member for the area, Theophilus Yeboah, said he received a distressing call about the incident and immediately rushed to the scene.

He said he was met with a scene of grief and confusion as family members and residents struggled to come to terms with the tragedy.

The body of the deceased has since been retrieved by the police and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The police have commenced investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
