Barekese Police Arrest Landlord’s Wife Over Alleged Ear-Biting

The Barekese Police have arrested a landlord’s wife, identified as Sister Afia, for allegedly biting and seriously injuring the ear of her tenant during a fight at Fufuo, a suburb of Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

The victim, Yaa Achiaa, is currently receiving medical treatment at the Barekese Hospital following the incident.

The dispute reportedly began on Monday, August 31, after Yaa Achiaa cautioned her daughter against playing with the landlord’s children.

The caution was said to have followed an earlier incident in which one of the landlord’s children allegedly injured Achiaa’s daughter while they were playing.

The disagreement between the two parties reportedly resurfaced on Thursday, September 3, and escalated into a physical confrontation.

During the fight, Sister Afia allegedly bit Achiaa’s ear, causing serious injury.

Residents who witnessed the incident reportedly intervened and separated the two women.

Speaking to the media, the victim’s eldest daughter, Blessing Osei, said Sister Afia and her husband reported the incident to the Barekese Police shortly after the confrontation.

She said the police subsequently arrested Sister Afia, while her mother was taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“When she bit my mother’s ear, residents separated the fight. She and her husband rushed to the police station first to lodge a complaint, but she was arrested while my mother was taken to the hospital for medical attention,” she said.

Blessing alleged that the incident followed a series of disagreements between the two women, claiming that Sister Afia had repeatedly verbally abused her mother.

She further alleged that the landlord’s wife attacked and threatened her when she attempted to separate the fight.

“Even when I tried to separate the fight, the landlord’s wife attacked me and threatened to injure me, so I ran to a friend whom I had come to visit while the confrontation with my mother was ongoing,” she added.

The victim remains at the Barekese Hospital receiving treatment, while Sister Afia remains in police custody.

The police said investigations are ongoing and that the suspect will be processed for court after the investigations are concluded.
