Robbery Suspect Shot, Arrested At Medical Facility

The Nkwawie Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region has arrested a 25-year-old man, Francis Nsiah, in connection with an attempted armed robbery on the Hiakose-Nweneso stretch in the Manso Nkwanta District.
The arrest followed an operation led by ASP Noah Yakpa and his team after the police received information about an armed robbery in progress on the stretch.
The incident occurred on Friday, August 7, 2026, at about 11:00 p.m., when the Nkwawie Divisional Operations Patrol Team received information that armed robbers were operating on the road between Hiakose and Nweneso.
ASP Yakpa and his team immediately proceeded to the area. Upon approaching the scene, the officers heard gunshots and spotted one of the suspected robbers fleeing into a nearby bush with a bag.
The officers pursued the suspect, while a subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of an iPhone 14 and a bag believed to belong to some of the victims.
The police later received information that one of the suspected robbers had sought medical treatment at a health facility for gunshot wounds.
ASP Yakpa and his team proceeded to the facility, where they arrested Nsiah, who was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his buttock.
He is currently under police guard and receiving medical treatment.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command said investigations were ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and identify and arrest other persons who may have been involved.
