GACC Marks African Anti-Corruption Day with Youth Sensitisation

The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), through its partners, has marked the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day with a series of youth sensitisation programmes aimed at promoting integrity and strengthening the fight against corruption.

Speaking on the initiative, the Programme Lead of GACC, Mr. Collins Berchie, said the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day, themed “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa,” calls for renewed commitment to building a culture of integrity, transparency and accountability across the continent.

He explained that, in line with the theme and as part of GACC’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Coalition organised youth sensitisation activities in several districts across the country to educate young people on the dangers of corruption and the importance of ethical leadership.
In Bibiani, the Municipal Director of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Mr. Eric Ntiamoah Boateng, served as the resource person for the programme. He engaged students of Kwamekrom Basic School and Otoo Senior High School in interactive sessions on corruption, bribery, whistleblowing, integrity and the adverse effects of corruption on national development.

The discussions also provided students with the opportunity to share their views, experiences and concerns about corruption while encouraging them to become ambassadors of integrity in their schools and communities.
African Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually on July 11 to promote integrity and strengthen anti-corruption efforts across the continent. The 2026 commemoration sought to raise awareness among young people, encourage ethical behaviour and create a platform for meaningful dialogue on corruption.

Established in 2001, the Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition has, over the past 25 years, served as a leading platform that brings together civil society organisations, public institutions, the private sector, the media and citizens to strengthen collective action against corruption and promote good governance in Ghana.
