Six O.T.I Students Discharged After Violent Eid-Day Clash

Six students of the Offinso Technical Institute (O.T.I) who were hospitalized following a violent clash between students and suspected Zongo youths have all been discharged after treatment.
The incident happened on Tuesday, May 27, 2026, on the school campus, just hours after Eid prayers by the Muslim community in Offinso.
A teacher of the school, whose name has been withheld, told SWIFTNEWS3 that the violence stemmed from a long-standing feud between the two groups, which unfortunately escalated.
He explained that the injured students were initially admitted to the St. Patrick Hospital at Offinso Maase, but have since been treated and discharged.
He further noted that the situation caused panic on campus, leading to some students fleeing the school and currently unaccounted for.
The teacher alleged that the suspected Zongo youths also vandalised parts of the school, including glass windows and doors in both boys’ and girls’ dormitories, as well as the housemaster’s residence.
He said a formal complaint has been lodged with the police, while school authorities and Zongo leaders are engaging each other in efforts to restore calm and prevent further escalation.
