Drama In Sampa As Man Goes Into Hiding Over LGBTQ Allegations

A major controversy has erupted in the Sampa community after a married man allegedly fled his home following the exposure of his alleged same-sex relationship with another man.
The man at the center of the controversy, Emmanuel Kwabena Nsiah, reportedly abandoned the community after tensions escalated between him, his family, and some residents who accused him of engaging in homosexual activities.
Information gathered by this reporter indicates that Emmanuel, a farmer and auto body repairer, had lived a quiet life for years while secretly maintaining a close relationship with a businessman identified as Framoh Michael Yaw.
Residents claimed the two men became very close after meeting through business dealings involving pineapple trading in Sunyani several years ago.
According to sources, suspicion began growing within the family and community after Emmanuel was frequently seen travelling and spending long hours with Yaw.
The matter allegedly took a dramatic turn in December 2023 when a relative reportedly followed the pair to a hotel and secretly took photographs of them entering the facility together.
The photographs and alleged hotel receipts are said to have triggered outrage among some family members and community elders, who reportedly considered the alleged relationship unacceptable within the traditional and religious setting of the area.
Sources disclosed that Emmanuel’s cousin, Bismark Insiah, who currently serves as chief in the Sampa community, became deeply unhappy over the incident because it allegedly brought disgrace upon the family.
Community members alleged that the scandal also generated tension surrounding traditional leadership discussions within the area.
Shortly after the matter surfaced, residents claimed complaints were lodged against the two men, leading to the alleged arrest of Yaw by police.
Emmanuel reportedly fled shortly afterwards, fearing attacks and possible arrest.
This reporter gathered that he first relocated from Accra to Kumasi, where he allegedly stayed in lodges and temporary shelters while avoiding public attention.
Some residents who spoke to this reporter insisted that the community strongly opposes homosexuality and described the allegations as shocking.
A source close to the family claimed Emmanuel had previously faced pressure from relatives to marry because many people suspected he was hiding something about his private life.
Investigations revealed that Emmanuel later married a woman identified as Ernestina Adyei and had children with her, although some relatives reportedly remained suspicious about his relationship with Yaw.
The situation reportedly worsened earlier this year after Emmanuel was allegedly identified by some people believed to be from his hometown while staying in Kumasi.
Sources said he was attacked during the encounter before being rescued by a local leader who advised him to leave the area for his own safety.
Family members are also said to be living in fear after unknown persons allegedly threatened to attack Emmanuel’s house.
Meanwhile, the controversy continues to generate heated debate within the community, with some residents condemning the alleged relationship while others express concern over the threats and violence linked to the matter.
