Lover Held Over Death of 33-Year-Old Beautician in Kumasi

A 48-year-old businessman, Francis Arthur, has been remanded by the Asokore Mampong District Court for allegedly killing his girlfriend, Sally Benson, in a suspected domestic violence incident at Ayigya-Maxima in Kumasi.
Sally Benson, 33, a popular beautician and business owner, is said to have rushed to Arthur’s residence with a female friend after receiving information that his baby mama was visiting him. However, the suspect was not home when they arrived.
Police say Arthur returned shortly after, and a confrontation ensued between the couple.
Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare disclosed that during the altercation, Arthur allegedly assaulted the deceased, striking her multiple times until she became unconscious.
Realising the severity of the situation, the suspect reportedly rushed her in her own vehicle to the KNUST Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
A police examination later revealed visible marks of assault on her neck and chest.
Arthur appeared before Her Worship Hilda Esther Wryter on Tuesday and was remanded into custody. He is expected to reappear in court on May 8, 2026.
The case has drawn emotional scenes at the court, with relatives of the deceased present during proceedings.
The death of Sally Benson, owner of Sally’s Cosmetics Studio and African’s Special Pub at Asokwa, has left many in Kumasi in shock.
