Ashanti South Police Raid Suspected Brothel, Arrest Nigerian Woman

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has stepped up its crackdown on crime with a raid on a suspected brothel at Manso Watreso in the Ashanti Region, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old Nigerian woman.

The operation, carried out on April 19, 2026, by officers from the Manso Nkwanta Police, followed credible intelligence about illicit activities at the facility.

The suspect, identified as Esther Egbuhama, is believed to be the owner and operator of the brothel, popularly known as Mama Nice Lodge. The premises had allegedly become a hub for illegal activities in the area.

Police said although the main suspect was arrested, several other individuals linked to the operations managed to flee during the exercise.

Esther Egbuhama is currently in custody at Manso Nkwanta and is assisting police with ongoing investigations. She is expected to be arraigned before court in the coming days.

In a statement dated April 20, 2026, the Ashanti South Regional Police Command reiterated that the operation of brothels is a criminal offence under Section 277 (as substituted by N.L.C.D. 398, paragraph 16) of Ghana’s laws.

The Command assured the public of sustained intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks and maintain law and order in the region.

It also urged residents to support policing efforts by providing timely and credible information.

The statement was signed by the Ashanti South Regional Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba.
