Atwima Kwanwoma Gets Major Development Boost As Ashanti Regional Minister Visits

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has paid an unannounced working visit to the Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, where he engaged officials, inspected ongoing projects, and outlined key development interventions aimed at boosting growth in the area.

The surprise visit, which took staff and management of the Assembly off guard, forms part of the Minister’s intensified efforts to closely monitor development projects and strengthen accountability in the delivery of public services across the Ashanti Region.

During a meeting with staff and technocrats, Dr. Amoakohene urged workers to remain disciplined, committed, and professional in the discharge of their duties, stressing that effective service delivery is essential for the transformation of the district.

He also called for stronger collaboration between technical officers and political leadership, emphasizing that professional input from civil servants remains critical to achieving development goals. “We are politicians from different backgrounds. Your guidance and expertise will help us achieve better results in our stewardship,” he stated.

On development initiatives, the Minister announced that the long-awaited 24-Hour Economy Market Project has been approved for the district and is expected to commence soon. He explained that the project would boost local trade, create jobs, and stimulate economic activities.

Dr. Amoakohene further reaffirmed government’s commitment to completing all abandoned projects nationwide, stressing that development must be continuous to ensure that public investments are not left to waste.

Touching on infrastructure, he assured residents that the poor road network in the district would receive urgent attention, describing road improvement as a key driver of economic development.

He also tasked the Assembly to ensure transparency and prudent management of public funds, while urging intensified efforts to improve sanitation and environmental cleanliness.

Following the engagement, the Minister toured several ongoing projects, including a six-unit classroom block at Afaseibon, a three-unit classroom block at New Adwampong, and a CHPS compound at Asaago, which he described as a legacy project.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work but urged contractors to accelerate execution while maintaining high construction standards.

Dr. Amoakohene also revealed plans to consult stakeholders on transforming the water resource facility along the Yabi-Dida stretch into a recreational and tourism site to boost local economic activity.

He concluded by assuring the Assembly of his continuous support and encouraged officials to reach out to his office whenever assistance is required for effective development delivery.
