One Dead, Two Injured in Accra–Kumasi Highway Crash
A tragic road accident at the Breku Forest area near the Pra River on the Accra–Kumasi Highway has claimed one life and left two others seriously injured.
The accident, which occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026, involved a Howo Sinotruk truck loaded with cement. The truck, with registration number AS-4114-24, reportedly overturned, trapping three occupants inside the wreckage.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a combined rescue team from the Konongo-Odumase and Juaso fire stations was swiftly dispatched to the scene following a distress call.
The rescue operation, led by Siaw Richardson, resulted in the successful extrication of two injured victims. They were promptly transported to the Juaso Government Hospital by an Ambulance Service vehicle with registration number GV-589-20 for medical treatment.
The third occupant was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene. The body was retrieved from the mangled vehicle and handed over to the police for further investigations and necessary procedures.
The Howo truck sustained extensive damage, particularly to its front section. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the appropriate authorities.
Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service has commended the professionalism, bravery, and swift response of its personnel, noting that their timely intervention helped save lives.
