At Least 10 Killed in Fatal Offinso Samproso Road Crash

A devastating road accident at Offinso Samproso in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of at least 10 people, with several others sustaining critical injuries.

The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at about 5:30am, when a commercial passenger bus travelling from Techiman to Kumasi collided head-on with a cement-laden trailer.

The bus, with registration number GT 5509-20, reportedly crashed into a trailer loaded with cement, bearing registration number GN 5326-22, as the truck was said to be crossing the road from a cement factory in the area.

Eyewitnesses told Swiftnews3 Online that the bus was travelling at top speed and rammed into the middle of the trailer, leading to the violent collision. The impact left the bus completely destroyed beyond recognition.

According to preliminary accounts, six passengers died instantly at the scene, while others sustained life-threatening injuries. The death toll later rose to at least 10 as some victims succumbed to their injuries.

The injured were rushed to Offinso St. Patrick Hospital and other nearby health facilities for emergency treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the St. Patrick Hospital mortuary pending identification and further arrangements.

Police officers have since taken over the accident scene and have commenced investigations to establish the exact cause of the crash.

Road users in the area have once again been urged to adhere strictly to speed limits and road safety regulations to help prevent such tragic incidents.
