Atwima Mponua DA Dismisses Claims Over Missing DRIP Equipment

The Atwima Mponua District Assembly (AMDA) has strongly refuted claims circulating on social media suggesting that District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment assigned to the district has been mishandled or is missing.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Assembly described as “false and misleading” allegations contained in a flyer and a video interview by the Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua, Hon. Seth Osei Akoto, which were widely shared on platforms linked to Oyerepa FM.

According to the Assembly, the DRIP equipment remains fully within the district and is being actively deployed for official duties. Officials stressed that the claims made by the MP do not reflect the reality on the ground.

The Assembly cited recent examples to back its position, noting that the equipment was used during the latest district-wide clean-up exercise at Mmofranfaadwen, where it supported sanitation and environmental health activities. It also recalled that in August this year, the same machinery was deployed at Tanodumase to improve road conditions ahead of a commemorative week celebration in honour of the late mother of the MP’s predecessor, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah.

Additionally, AMDA revealed that just two days before the circulation of the controversial flyer and interview, the District Chief Executive (DCE) had officially announced the deployment of DRIP equipment for clearing refuse and rubbish dumps in selected communities. A video recording showing a bulldozer in operation, the Assembly said, provides clear evidence that the equipment is still in active use within the district.

The Assembly further confirmed that the entire set of DRIP machinery is currently stationed at the forecourt of the Atwima Mponua District Assembly and is available for use on a 24-hour basis whenever the need arises.

AMDA expressed concern that the statements attributed to the MP demonstrate a “disconnect” from the Assembly’s ongoing operations, warning that the spread of unverified information could mislead the public and undermine development efforts in the district.

The Assembly therefore urged residents to disregard the claims and rely solely on information from its official and verified communication channels. It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of government resources for the benefit of the people of Atwima Mponua.

The statement was signed by David Angangmwin Baganiah, Special Aide to the District Chief Executive, on behalf of the Atwima Mponua District Assembly.
