Atwima Mponua Rural Bank Supports Six Assemblies Ahead of 41st Farmers’ Day

The Atwima Mponua Rural Bank PLC has presented a range of agricultural inputs to six Municipal and District Assemblies ahead of the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025.

The CEO of the bank, Mr. Edward Kwarteng, led the presentation on behalf of the Board of Directors at a brief ceremony after which the items were dispatched to the various beneficiary assembllies.

Items donated included wheelbarrows, fridges, Wellington boots, cutlasses, and other essential farming tools. The beneficiary assemblies were Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal, Ahafo Ano South West District, Suame Municipal, Kwadaso Municipal, Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal, and Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

Mr. Kwarteng said farmers remain the backbone of Ghana’s growth, stressing that their contribution to national development deserves recognition and motivation.

“Without the support of our farmers, the economy would decline. We salute all cocoa, rice, maize, and plantation farmers for their efforts,” he stated.

He noted that Atwima Mponua Rural Bank has continuously supported Farmers’ Day activities over the years and reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to standing with farmers and collaborating with MMDCEs to enhance food production.

“This is the wish of Atwima Mponua Rural Bank — to let our communities know we are with them. Whatever concerns they bring to us, we are ready to support,” he added.

Assembly leaders who received the items expressed their appreciation.

Mr. Paul Atsu, Coordinating Director for Ahafo Ano South West District, speaking on behalf of DCE Hon. Abubakar Sedik, praised the bank for its consistent support.

“Every year, they donate to the Farmers’ Day celebration. These wheelbarrows will be given to livestock farmers to help ease their work,” he said.

Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Eric Asibey, also commended the bank for its timely intervention, noting that the celebration would have been challenging without their support. He encouraged farmers not to lose hope and pledged the Assembly’s support for modern farming innovations.

He added that increased support for local farmers would reduce the country’s reliance on food imports and help conserve national resources, revealing that the government is preparing soft loan packages for farmers.

The DCE for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Hon. Mba Zechariah, urged residents in his district to do more business with the bank to help strengthen its capacity to support farmers, especially those in need of financial assistance.

The donation forms part of Atwima Mponua Rural Bank’s ongoing efforts to boost agricultural productivity and honour the hardworking farmers who feed the nation.
