Obuasi Municipal Assembly Unveils GH₵2.8m Projects For Six Communities

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has rolled out a fresh batch of development projects worth GH₵2.8 million across six communities in the municipality, reinforcing government’s commitment to improving local infrastructure and social services.

The projects, which are expected to be completed within three months, cover key sectors such as education, water supply and sanitation. They include the construction of mechanised boreholes, modern toilet facilities, kindergarten blocks, school canteens, and the renovation of existing classroom structures.

Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Faustilove Appiah Kannin, during a recent tour of the beneficiary communities, performed a series of sod-cutting ceremonies to officially commence the works.

The beneficiary communities are New Nsuta, Emuye, Anwona, Bediem, Kulem and Railway.

At New Nsuta, the Assembly is renovating a four-unit KG block and putting up an eight-seater water-closet facility for the Presbyterian School. In Anwona, an abandoned three-unit classroom block is set to be completed to ease congestion and improve teaching and learning.

Bediem will see significant improvements with the refurbishment of the KG block, construction of an eight-seater WC, a new canteen, and a mechanised borehole for the Experimental School. The Kulem and Railway communities will each receive a mechanised borehole to enhance access to safe drinking water.

Residents of Emuye will also benefit from improved road access as the Assembly prepares to pave the Parliament Road, which has long been a challenge for motorists and pedestrians.

Speaking during the ceremonies, the MCE charged contractors to deliver quality work within the stipulated timeframe. She noted that the projects fall in line with government’s “Resetting Agenda,” which seeks to strengthen basic infrastructure, enhance access to potable water, and uplift educational facilities.

Traditional leaders, assembly members and residents who witnessed the events expressed gratitude to the Assembly and the government, describing the projects as timely and impactful for community development.
