Family Injured in Building Collapse at Anwiafutu

A dawn disaster at Anwiafutu in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region has left a family of three injured after their building collapsed on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., trapping the occupants under the rubble before they were rescued by neighbours.

According to officials from the Atwima Mponua District NADMO Secretariat, the victims — identified as 35-year-old Kidikpa Kpe, his wife, Mary Mako, aged 40, and their daughter, 11-year-old Selina Tetteh — sustained various injuries. Mr. Kpe suffered a waist injury, Mrs. Mako injured her leg and waist, while their daughter sustained a severe head injury.

A preliminary assessment by NADMO indicated that the collapse was caused by the weakened structure of the building.

NADMO officers have since cordoned off the site and provided initial support to the affected family. The Secretariat has also advised residents living in old or weakened buildings to seek immediate assessment and reinforcement to avert future tragedies.

The injured victims are receiving treatment at a nearby health facility.
